Food…and Sex?

By Dakota Trace

Usually a good meal is a prerequisite for sex.  Or so they say.  But ever since I saw 9 ½ Weeks at an age I won’t mention, I couldn’t help but wanting to combine yummy food and sizzling sex. Then I ran across a call for Decadent’s new Foodie Romance line and inspiration struck!
But I didn’t want to do just a simple recreation of the scene I watched in the movie.  I wanted whatever food I picked to be a sensual, if not downright steamy part of my story.   I wanted it to be a form a foreplay, but I didn’t want the food to be the traditional chocolate syrup or ice.  (Not that those condiments can’t be sexy as hell.)
So I came up with idea of using a more complex dessert – something that would require a chef to create it. Which makes sense since one of my heroes is a three-star chef).  But it also had to be the kind of dessert that could be used to tease…that’s when inspiration struck – BANANAS FOSTER!

For those who happen to love food or be fans of Food Network, you realize this New Orleans dessert is a magnificent display of not only culinary talent but also showmanship.  Not only does it require some cooking skills in the putting it together, but the presentation is absolutely beautiful if it’s done right.  (For those of you who don’t know, this is a dessert that a chef caramelizes brown sugar, dark rum, and bananas by lighting it on fire AT your table before serving it over ice cream, waffles or crêpes.)  It seemed like the perfect dessert under the right circumstances. One couldn’t play with this dessert in the way I dreamed immediately after it was served…but reheated? Oh…yeah.  And that’s what occurred when my kinky chef, Isaiah decided to not only tie his lover, Sean to the dining room table, but use him as a canvas for the left-over dessert.

So enjoy the snippet from His Just Desserts, and leave a comment for me about what you think would be the sexiest food to play with to enter the chance to win $10 Amazon Gift Card.  (Make sure to put your email address in the comment as well :D)

Excerpt:
“Never once have I considered you my kept man. There’s nothing wrong with me wanting to take care of the man I love. I may be a lot of things, but I never once acted like I was better than you, or like I thought you were inferior to me. We were in love, and when I asked you come with me to Iowa City, you said no. You could’ve graduated a year early, but instead you wanted to stay in that Podunk town. I had to take advantage of the scholarship to U of I, so I left.”
“You could’ve stayed. It was only a year.”
“Could have, should have—it doesn’t matter now. It’s all water under the bridge. What I want to do is to offer you a substantial amount of money to come to my home, prepare a meal for myself and the partners.”
Sinking down into the chair, he rubbed the back of his neck. There has to be a catch. Old lovers just don’t show up and offer vast amounts of money, Waterson. “But?”
“But now, I have a feeling no amount would be enough to get you to pretend to be my lover for the night, and that’s what I need from you.”
A bitter laugh passed his lips at the irony. “This is just grand. I never thought I’d hear the mighty Sean Whitcomb offer to pay someone to pretend to be his lover. You’re a lover extraordinaire who could have a man any day of the week. Isn’t that what you told me before you left?” Unresolved resentment peppered his voice as his anger boiled over. He wanted to do more than punch Sean. He wanted to hurt him right where his heart lived. “So why don’t you go find one of them to do it? Better yet, see if you can’t call one of the modeling agencies and have them send over some hot guy to play the role, because the only thing that would convince me to agree is if I got to top you for a whole weekend. And it would be no-holds-barred sex. You’d be my bitch, for once—and I’d make sure you screamed with pleasure.”
“Is that what it would take, Isaiah?”
The soft tone should’ve warned him, but anger made him rash. “Yeah, it’s the only damned way…but we both know you’ll never agree to it. You never bottom, you never give up control, so this discussion is over—”
“No it’s not over. I agree to your terms,” Sean said. “One meal, a couple hours of pretend, and you get me for the whole weekend. I’m sure you’ll enjoy your pound of flesh. I’ll call tomorrow with the details.”

A click in his ear told him Sean had hung up.

Chefs...Good Guys or Bad Guys?

Sweet Cravings Available HERE
By Eva LeFoy

When I was younger, I worked as a server for a local hotel/convention center. I served banquet guests dinners, desserts, and beverages carrying those really big trays. My work often took me into the kitchen, where the real work took place. Chefs, sous chefs, cooks, dishwashers, all collided in a working frenzy. I was just the in-between.

But before this, I worked at a commercial restaurant. The chef heard this, and called me into his office. He asked me, “Do you want to become a chef?”

I, head held high, brain in the academic clouds, answered, “No, I want to be a biologist.”

He literally told me to get the hell out of his office!!

From what I’ve heard, this is quintessential chef behavior. But Chef Max in my book, Sweet Cravings, is definitely not like this! He likes Violet from the get-go, but is a little unsure how to take the fact she seduces him right in the kitchen. Violet has needs, hungers, you might say. Many of them. And Chef Max is all too eager to fulfill them!

Here’s an excerpt:

As if he could hear my thoughts, he said, “Even if you think some of your hungers are bad…or wrong.” He pressed a gentle kiss to the tip of my nose. “I assure you they are not. They are perfectly normal.” His arm slid around my back and pulled me close, hip to hip. My sex clenched in anticipation. “All of them.”
I gasped as his erection pressed against my rapidly heating mound. Being this close to him drove spikes of excitement up and down my core, from my pussy to my brain, making me too stupid to talk. I was glad he kept going.
“It would give me great pleasure to satisfy your every craving.” He sent me a serious, no-nonsense look that could have made him a damn fine lawyer. “All of them.”
All of them? What was he asking me? To let go and…show him all my dirty little secrets? All my kinky and desperate needs? Food and otherwise? The ones no man had ever bothered to satisfy before? I shot him a glance, sucked in a breath, and bit my lip.
He nodded, as if saying yes. Yes. Yes, yes, and yes.
A sense of relief flooded me at his words and my muscles untightened as the truth sank in. He wanted to fulfill all of them. Every last need. Every which way my fiendish little mind could imagine to connect, to explore, with another. He’d be there. He’d take it all. Or would he? The shadow of a doubt crossed my mind, and I checked out his eyes searching for the answer.
He smiled as he touched his lips to mine, and I knew. Yes, he had a healthy appetite, too, and it wasn’t just food he craved. His tongue swept into my mouth and my body electrified. I kissed him back with as much urgency as I knew how to put into a kiss, grasped handfuls of his arms and shoulders, and moaned.
He pressed me backward until my ass hit the counter as he took the kiss deeper, devouring my mouth. I slipped my hands under his shirt, greedy for skin-to-skin contact, and roamed every bit of flesh I could reach. Our lips glided against each other’s at a pace matching our raspy breaths. Down below, I ached to draw him inside me.
“Too many clothes,” I panted out.

Thanks for reading!

Sometimes You Just Have to Have a Little Fun

By Eva LeFoy

When I signed up for the Dirty Birdies Flock Hop, I panicked. I had no idea what to write about. The theme was “eye candy,” so I spent hours and hours looking for eye candy on different photo sites. Finally I settled on one I liked:

Isn’t he cute? Well he must have spoken to me (or my subconscious, heh). Somehow, some way, I started writing this post about him:

I gave him a name and decided he looked as though he’d spent a decadent night at a wild wedding and woken up on the beach half-dressed and extremely satisfied! So I figured okay, maybe he needs a girl. I gave him one. A sexy wedding guest who he follows down to the beach and into a secret cave…

And that’s how it all started really. To read where it went from there, you have to understand that my mind made several crazy leaps. First, my brain decided Sean was a wolf. Not any wolf, but a beta wolf. Okay... And to make things more interesting, the woman he likes – Sharla - has a long-standing dom/sub sexual relationship with the newly married bride.

Ker-Pow!

And then my brain in its infinite wisdom decided to go all UF on me (Urban Fantasy) and make the bride a witch. Ha! Adding to that nearly insurmountable trouble, Sean discovers that Sharla’s his mate.

In the words of the always grammatically interesting English, “bloody hell!”

I thought to myself that a M/F/F ménage would be a cool concept, but then, there was the groom to contend with. Can’t forget about him, now can we? He would not like sharing his new bride with another male, especially since he’s an alpha wolf! I had to find another way to get Sharla and Sean together – ahem – naked on the beach AND give him that cigar and that wicked grin you see in the photo.

Note: Every wicked grin needs a good reason.

So that’s how I happened to write a 3-part serial for a blog hop that had absolutely nothing to do with anything, except that it was fun making up a story to go with a picture. And I hope that readers think it is a fun free read too!

To reads parts 2 and 3, go here: http://wp.me/p1JQUw-8h and http://wp.me/p1JQUw-8P

Heck, if you’ve got ideas for Sean and Sharla’s future and want to add to their story, let me know. You never know where just having a litte fun might take you.

Happy reading!

Best Decadent Brownies Ever!

By Eva LeFoy

Happy Saturday dear readers!

It’s summertime and now is good weather for enjoying outdoor patio dinners, so I figured it’s time for a blog hop. Even better, a foodie blog hop. ‘Cause as a foodie author, you know I love to eat! The hop is on now and is called Summer Chillin’.

Buy Sweet Cravings HERE
In my book, Sweet Cravings, out now from Decadent Publishing, the sexy hero is a French-trained pastry chef. Which is a grand profession IMO and makes him all kinds of yummeh. But, I’m not a pastry chef myself by any stretch of the imagination. At home I’m more of a vegetarian fresh foodie. How can I not be? My husband is an avid organic gardener and operates a Farmers Market stall at the Saturday market. So let’s just say I have plenty of fresh veg around. Every single day.

Sometimes though, you gotta have something sweet, and I break down and make brownies. When in need, these are the exact brownies that I make and man, are they decadent!

This recipe comes from Smitten Kitchen and I bow down to them in my mind every time I make them. And yes, they go fast in my house. We can consume ½ the pan in less than fifteen minutes!
Best Cocoa Brownies
Adapted from Alice Medrich’s Bittersweet
Makes 16 larger or 25 smaller brownies (see the pics on her site)
10 tablespoons (140 grams) unsalted butter (I actually use 1 1/4 cups of butter)
1 1/4 cups (250 grams) sugar
3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder (65 grams dark or regular)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
2 large eggs, cold
1/2 cup (65 grams) all-purpose flour
2/3 cup (75 grams) walnut or pecan pieces (optional – I never have used them)
Position a rack in the lower third of the oven and preheat the oven to 325°F. Line the bottom and sides of an 8×8-inch square baking pan with parchment paper or foil, leaving an overhang on two opposite sides. (I use wax paper and spray it with oil or they will stick).
Combine the butter, sugar, cocoa, and salt in a medium heatproof bowl and set the bowl in a wide skillet of barely simmering water. Stir from time to time until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth and hot enough that you want to remove your finger fairly quickly after dipping it in to test. Remove the bowl from the skillet and set aside briefly until the mixture is only warm, not hot. It looks fairly gritty at this point, but don’t fret — it smoothes out once the eggs and flour are added. (I put the whole bowl in the microwave to melt and it works great!)

Stir in the vanilla with a wooden spoon. Add the eggs one at a time, stirring vigorously after each one. When the batter looks thick, shiny, and well blended, add the flour and stir until you cannot see it any longer, then beat vigorously for 40 strokes with the wooden spoon or a rubber spatula. Stir in the nuts, if using. Spread evenly in the lined pan.
Bake until a toothpick plunged into the center emerges slightly moist with batter, about 20 to 25 minutes. (I usually go a little longer if not completely set.) Let cool completely on a rack.
Lift up the ends of the parchment or foil liner, and transfer the brownies to a cutting board. Cut into 16 or 25 squares.
Bon appétit!

Variations on Love…

By Eva LeFoy

Dear Readers,

What do you think about variations on love?

For many, many years – too many to count – the standard in the romance world has been M/F pairings. Love between a man and a woman. For example an Earl and a gentlemen’s daughter. Or maybe a fireman and the girl that once got away. Or perhaps even a pirate and a lusty wench! But with the recent release of the eleventh book in J. R. Ward’s popular Black Dagger Brotherhood, “Lover at Last,” the newest pairing on the block isn’t M/F. It’s M/M.

With this book, M/M romance has earned a hardcover spot on bookstore shelves across America. Although the reviews for this book are mixed, Ward has certainly opened the doors for M/M writers that will one day follow her. It’s possible M/M romance will eventually to mainstream. So for romance readers, what does this change mean?

More books to read! More variety! More options on where and what to buy!

Of course, Decadent Publishing already offers M/M romance, in just about every genre imaginable – science fiction, western, contemporary, paranormal, etc.

They also offer F/F pairings too.

So my question to readers is, what do you read? Are you a strictly traditional M/F reader, or do your tastes vary? Do you prefer M/M or are you hooked on ménage? (M/M/F or M/F/F or M/M/M or F/F/F) What stirs your decision to buy? Is the pairing, or the fact it looks like a really great story?

Personally, I read and write across all genres. I’m a sci-fi fanatic by nature, so Science Fiction Romance always intrigues me, no matter what the pairing. Paradoxically,Historicals of any pairing also fill a need. I love to sink back on the couch on a rainy day and immerse myself in the style and language of a previous era. Urban Fantasy is another favorite, and Paranormal Romance. Especially with the Paranormal genre, it’s possible to see all sorts of love combinations! Readers familiar with those genres already know this, and hopefully appreciate the diversity.

For other readers, now could be the right time to take the plunge into new territory. J. R. Ward is a #1 New York Times best seller. I’m sure she’s taking a risk at alienating some readers with “Lover at Last,” but undoubtedly a lot of fans will remain loyal.

My first release with Decadent Publishing was Sweet Cravings – a Contemporary Foodie M/F pairing. For those that read M/M romance, I’ve already contracted with Decadent Publishing for a 1NS due out later this year. I’m also self-publishing a F/F serial, the first installment of which will be out later this month. You can see previews of both on my blog, http://writery.wordpress.com/

Thanks for your comments, and happy reading!

It's Justin Timberlake's Fault!

Buy Sweet Cravings HERE
By Eva LeFoy

It’s Justin Timberlake’s fault I wrote a book about pastry!

Well, sort of.

I mean, it’s really the song’s fault, if you want to know the truth. Or, to back up a little further, it’s all Timbaland’s fault. Yep. No, I don’t normally listen to rap, and I only know of Justin Timberlake via the social media and news about who he’s dating. I’ve never purchased an album made by either of them. What happened though is I heard a song.

Back in the days of yore – before ABC cancelled my favorite soap opera, One Life to Live (that was a sad, sad day!) – I used to work out at the gym. And while I was there, I sometimes heard this song on the local radio:

The Way I Are, by Timbaland with Keri Hilson, D.O.E. and Sebastian

Now, I had no idea who these people were, but the tune was catchy and I found myself listening to it on YouTube over and over again. Why not? I know, I know, I’m getting to the pastry…

So then I figured, if I liked that song, maybe I’d like another of Timabland’s songs. I searched around on YouTube and after listening to a few duds (IMO!), I found this one:

Carry Out by Timabland, with Justin Timberlake

Now, again, I don’t listen to rap, but the tune is catchy –and look at those pastries! No, I’m not talking about the half-naked girls! What I’m really getting at and what the artists are playing up with this video is the relationship between food and sex. It’s pretty evident in this video, if you see what I mean. Ahem.

Anyway, soon after viewing this my devilish brain went to work and came up with a sexy pastry chef and a girl with a sweet craving that needed to be satisfied. Put the two of them together, and viola! You have Sweet Cravings, my first book released from Decadent Publishing.

Now that you know how it all happened, aren’t you kind of hungry?

I am!

Here’s the blurb for Sweet Cravings:
Riding the waves of a sugar high, Violet Cunningham seduces the town’s newest pastry chef, slathering him with whipped cream in his secret kitchen. But all that is made of sugar melts, and her brazenness vanishes soon after their tryst, leaving her battling old insecurities about her waistline and appetites, courtesy of her mother. Positive she’s only made a fool of herself, she’s mortified when her boss sends her back to sexy Chef Max’s kitchen and into the proverbial frying pan.

After a red-hot date, her chef disappears, and Violet’s emotions simmer to a boil, forcing her to confront the awful truth: there’s more to life than pastry.

Oh, and by the way, a great film if you’re into food + sex is Tampopo, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0092048/, the only Japanese movie where you can see a woman being tickled by a live crayfish on her belly. Yep, food and sex lends something significant to this oldie but goodie of a film. It’s subtitled, but keep in mind, food speaks a language of its own.

Bon appétit!

Delicious Thanksgiving

Buy Dessert First HERE

by Emily Cale
I’m currently overseas enjoying the 80F winters and more Indian food than anyone ever wanted. Most of the time that is okay, but I’m a little sad to be missing out on Thanksgiving. With all the traveling I’ve done over the years, this is actually the first time I’ll be missing out on the holiday.

The last time I went to my husband’s grandparent’s home for Thanksgiving I got to be one of only two people with a fork (they are Japanese and use chopsticks). The other person was four years old. That said, I think I made a pretty good effort. Have you ever tried to eat cranberry sauce with chopsticks? It’s really, really hard. Also hard to eat with chopsticks: mashed potatoes, turkey (how do I cut it?), and pretty much everything else.

I haven’t had a family Thanksgiving in about 6 years. The plane flights are too expensive for such a short time, especially when it is only a few weeks until my husband and I go home to visit our families for Christmas. That doesn’t mean we’ve been missing out though. For the two of us, we always make a wonderful spread of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yam, and pies. There are usually enough leftovers to last us until Christmas, but we love every minute of it.

So, in the spirit of making me incredibly jealous of the amazing food you have, I’m asking you all to leave a comment telling me your favorite Thanksgiving food. I’ll pick one commenter to win a copy of any of my Decadent Publishing books (Dessert First, Public Display of Affection, Goalie Interference, or Power Play).

I’ll be over here eating my goat and rice (yes, that’s probably what I’m actually having today).

Emily Cale never intended to write dirty books, it just worked out that way. While her creative writing professors would be appalled at the way she turned out, she's delighted to spend her days hanging out with her kinky characters.  Some might call her crazy, but she prefers the term multi-published erotic romance writer. When Emily isn't writing, you can find her curled up on her couch with her husband and two needy cats. You can visit her website, follow her on Twitter, or friend her on Facebook.
