Three Way Thursday - Thankful, Thoughful & Thirsty

with Maureen O. Betita

What am I thankful for?

Oh, I am thankful for so many things! I am thankful to still be alive after nearly dying three years ago. I am thankful that this close call resulted in my forgetting to be scared of being rejected by a publisher. And so I took the steps to find a publisher. I am thankful for my agent, Saritza Hernandez, who believed in my crazy little story, The Kraken’s Mirror. I’m thankful that Decadent Publishing fell in love with the story and soon, this year, I’ll have a published book! All from nearly dying…never thought I’d be able to say this. But I’m thankful for nearly dying. It woke me up to living.

What have I been thinking about lately?

I’ve been thinking of how many things I have to finish before heading to Los Angeles and the Romantic Times Convention. I go early to help out Judi McCoy with her Aspiring Author workshops and take part in the costume balls, and this year I’ll be signing and…and…and… Plus working on the final edits for The Kraken’s Mirror, and the next book in the series I hope Decadent will be interested in and another story I’m hoping they’ll like and…and…and…

I’m thinking wa-a-a-a-a-ay too much!

What do I thirst or hunger for?

I hunger and thirst for world wide recognition. No, not really. But some recognition would be nice. I’m not looking to be mobbed or need to hire bodyguards. I’d like to be someone that aspiring authors feel they can come to for advice, or just for a hug, a cheer, a drink! And I am hungry for my personal genre to be accepted. Piratepunk rules!

Yes, I want to be the queen of piratepunk! Or would that be the captain of piratepunk? The mother of piratepunk? The GODDESS of piratepunk!

I love that you live so large, Maureen. It's really an inspiration to new authors. I know it's inspired me! Wishing you nothing but success and recognition. Denise

I don't think any of your desires are out of the ordinary, Maureen! Although it would be kind of cool to have a bodyguard, as long as he looked like Kevin Costner. :-)

Denise - I once lived small and at heart, I probably still find that place more comfortable. But there just isn't time to be stuck there!

Thanks for stopping by!

Valerie, I'd probably get a bodyguard like Andre the Giant... ;-)

Ciara - Thanks! I do try to make the passion part of life!

Kathleen - Can't wait to meet everyone at RT... Hope I won't disappoint with the reality of the real me! ;-)

Ha, you crack me up, but there is serious wisdom in your words. I agree, just put yourself out there.
Good luck finding your Andre.

We have no expectations, only a desire to continue on this journey, with the bunch of pirate loving, faery seeking, ghost hunting group that we are.

Maureen said...

JM - wow, sounds ominous, serious wisdom... Thank you!

Kathleen - Expect fun!

Val you take Kevin Costner, I'll take Andonio Banderas. Think I'm too old for him? Gee....

Seriously almost dying waking you up to life is something really catchy there. Be proud of this awakening, very astute.

Love and blessings
Rita

I'm obviously very dense that it took that level of a kick-in-the-ass to get my attention! Thanks for stopping by, Rita!

Glad you survived to tell the story and many others, Maureen. Nothing wrong with wanting a little recognition. I would like someone to say some day that I am the queen of something as long as it isn't drivel. ;-D

Maureen said...

Well, Becca...queen of drivel is better than queen of drool... I don't mind the idea of blatherin', palaverin', babblin'...

I crown you... Queen for the Day! Ain't no one can say different!
