The Morning After...

Welcome, decadence seeker!

JoAnne Kenrick at your blogging service today.

Yesterday, my debut book released. It was celebrations galore! Today, it’s the morning after and realty has sunk in. NOT! Wheeeee I’m a published author *pulls tongues* hehe

People all over America are now reading my book, my vision…my story. How fantastic is that? I’m psyched, and wondering if the world at large is enjoying it. Like every mother, I think my baby is beautiful and will win any ‘cute baby’ contest she enters (yes, my book is a ‘she’). ‘She’ started as a short story, and blossomed with some love and care…and some crazy-ass ninja plot bunnies that attacked me while I was watching Dracula for the umpteenth time. It was that infamous line I have crossed oceans of time that did it. Uh-huh. Before I knew it, a couple once doomed in a short story was transformed into a story of love so strong it would wait a hundred years for a second chance. What’s the book? Why, so glad you asked. After all, this is Show And Tell Saturday on the blog full of decadent
things.

Adam knows that to save Pearl, he must help her accept her own Gypsy heritage. Although Adam and Pearl fight their burning attraction for one another, a night of passion sparks memories of their treacherous former lives. Unable to face the loss of Pearl in this century, Adam scrambles for distance from the love of his life. *CONTEST TIME* And since this is Show And Tell Saturday

*I get up from my chair and walk to the front of the classroom, a small box in hand. I smile, nerves getting the better of me, and turn to face the room.*
(hey, I'm actually pretty shy!) These, *opens the box, and fans out the contents*, are my favorite divination cards.

Cartomancy is one of my guilty pleasures; I’m a sucker for pretty pictures, and I like to ask for guidance from myself because it allows me to see a bigger picture. Hey, these cards are even great at asking simple yes or no questions. What’s that? You want to ask my cards a question? Go ahead, I’ll be happy to ask my cards a yes or no question on your behalf, for a bit of fun mind you. Anyone who asks a question (no matter how silly or serious) is entered to win a FREE EBOOK. My ebook, When A Mullo Loves A Woman. And you don’t need to ask a question to be in with a chance, just make sure you comment something.

Consider this your Magic 8 Ball for the weekend.
But…there are rules: No asking questions for someone else, or about someone else. I’m petty like that. So ask away, and please remember this is JUST a bit of fun; for entertainment purposes only. This contest is running through today, and I will announce the winner later this evening. SO… Don’t forget to check back for the answer to your question, and to claim your awesome prize if you won.

Here's a question:
Will I have a major life change before the year is out?

Congrats on your new release!

I love the premise of your story. Congratulations on your release. I never knew a Mullo was a gyspy vampire. Pretty cool.

WIll I be able to figure out how to do my edits?

Congratulaions on your new baby. Many she thrill many.
Wordage has also been a challenge for me. (Strangely, isn't proving to be a challenged for my latest WIP--which I'm delighted by.)
Anyhow, if you have words of advance on how to beef-up a short story, I'm all ears. : )

Oops, sorry, I didn't frame my comment as a question and it requested more than a yes or no response. Sorry, Alex.

Is there a hospital stay in my near future?

(might not really want to know that answer, but forwarned is forarmed!)

Hi, all :)

Nicole, the cards indicate that, yes, you will hear news before Christmas.

Valerie, the cards I drew suggest that a few things need to be cleared up first. And a new deadline will be set -- which you will meet.

Sexy Writer (love that name!) Yes, my cards are saying you are already on the right path to set about this change.

Alex, Mullo came from a short story :) But if you were to read the short, you wouldn't know it. The only thing that stayed the same was the 'mysterious shop' scene. But that isn't the same as beefing up a short; I literally took a short and used it for inspiration for a full length.
Perhaps you could get a group of beta readers together, and get them to read your story, and provide feedback on what they thought needed expanding to get the 'story' across. An extra scene that explains a plot they didn't understand, or some added character work? Just and idea :)

Kim, my cards are indicating that yes, you will.

Kitty Kelly. Yes, you'll get what you want for Christmas, because you deserve it! As for your second question. Not going to ask! So there! hehe

Nina, my cards are saying that you will get something wonderful for christmas --- maybe not exactly what you wanted, but still awesome!

Kathleen, Yes, you'll get it. My cards suggest you just need a helping hand to explain something that's bugging you, and you'll be on your way!

Can't blame a girl for trying! :)

Maureen, my cards don't think you'll be in hospital this year.

Hope I didn't forget anyone! if I did, give me a poke and I'll get ya sorted :)

JoAnne Kenrick said...

LMAO, No, I can't blame ya for trying. I probably would have asked the same question LOL

Whew! Well, I hope the cards are right!

I know I'm late, but Nyquil does silly things to me! Like erases all memories from the time I took the first dose until... much, much later.
Let me say that I LOVE your story's premise! You know I gotta get me that book! On Kindle!:)
