Superman Looks Like Wolverine

If you’re like me your first memories of the “Man of Steel” were of George Reeves in grainy black and clear reruns on early Saturday mornings.  Of course these were soon overshadow by the iconic Christopher Reeve who proved that he was Superman. 

 

Christopher Reeve’s Clark Kent/Superman was and is in my opinion hard to beat.  Did you know he was nearly booted for the part because the producers and the director thought he was too scrawny for the role.  However after sometime at the gym, his royal buffness, sufficiently convinced them to keep him on.  Good for us because he did it so well he actually made us believe that a man could fly.

Unlike the 2006 “Superman Returns” starring Brandon Routh, this recent incarnation ‘The Man of Steel,’ promises to be the long awaited reboot of the classic DC Comics series.  Starring Henry Cavill, this movie is like its 1978 predecessor where it tells the life of Col-el/Clark Kent/Superman starting with his father Jor-El, portrayed by Russell Crowe to his life in Kansas to his eventual metamorphosis into Superman in Metropolis. 

A recent shot on the set shows a heavily muscled and bearded Clark Kent looking very much like Wolverine.  Could this be evidence of an edgier persona of Clark Kent than we are use to seeing?

The director and producers are being very tight lipped regarding details surrounding the story.  And rightly so.  Sometimes it’s better to be surprised. 

One thing for sure this star-spangled cast (Laurence Fishburne, Russell Crowe, Kevin Costner, Christopher Meloni, Diane Lane and Amy Adams) has me looking forward to seeing this newest portrayal of the Man of Steel.

Seen Any Hot Guys in Sci-fi Lately?

I love me some alpha males especially when they are in uniform!  I have to admit my lust for the type started with my interest or shall I say obsession with science fiction movies.

Who could resist the dashing Han Solo wearing his Corellian uniform?

Then there is Peter Weller in Screamers. 

And let's not forget the devastatingly handsome Karl Urban as Vaako in The Chronicles of Riddick! 

But if I had to pick my all time favorite, it has to be James Morrison in the defunct Fox Scifi series Space Above and Beyond.  He played the tortured and consummately angry In-Vitro, Colonel T.C. McQueen.  

I must admit there is a bit of James Morrison in the hero of Cold Warriors and the sequel Ice Peace's Colonel Medoro Keegan. 

Keegan is a man tortured by his past but bound by duty and his love for cryo warrior Caitlin Driskoll to work for a better future. 

Cold Warriors and Ice and Peace will be released soon.

Escape to another world!

I love the idea of reading a book that can make me forget all my cares for the day and whisk me away to another world.  Those books are real page turners for me especially if they are science fiction.  I know when I read scifi, I'll be taken to another world even if it resembles ours in the future. 

There I will meet new people, new technology and a sneak peek into the lives of ordinary people who are thrust into extraordinary situations. 

That's exactly what Kybernatia is about.  Kybernatia was supposed to be humanity’s newest paradise but that dream is all but gone.  Ruined in an horrible terra forming accident, the planet was deemed no longer fit for humanity.  Gabrielle Burle, project manager for the development of the planet, was forced out of her job as a veil of secrecy suddenly shrouded the planet. 

Determined to find out why or how it could happen, Gabrielle goes on a journey of discovery that leads her to one man who she knows has all the answers.
