The other night, I had a dream so vivid that I
woke up believing what I saw really happened. It took a few seconds to realize
it had been just a dream. In some ways, I was very disappointed. There was so
much sexual tension in that dream, I wanted to know what happened next. So,
instead of letting that memorable scene slip away, I decided to use my
imagination to finish out the story. Yes, I daydream...
But, before I played out the ending, I needed to
know what happened before that hot scene in the kitchen. (No sex in the dream,
just the tension.) So, while the rest of the house slept, I laid in bed
directing a movie in my head. And then I wrote it all down in point form notes.
Perfect, you say, now write the story! If only it were
that simple. I have a few stories I want to finish this year, two of them
already started. So, I must file it away in my to-write folder.
Just like readers (including me) have a long
list of books to-read, many authors also have a to-write list. Some plan years
ahead of time while others plan only for the year or month ahead. But the ideas
are constantly there. And when we’re fresh out of ideas, all we have to do is
go to our to-write folder, or check out the news headlines, listen to music, or
simply people watch for more inspiration.

I have about four I'm very anxious to read, about twenty on my kindle that I'll get to and several I'd love to buy one day.
Haha! You do NOT wanna know how many books are in my TBR pile. My Kindle cloud alone has over 3,000 books.... *Nuff said, I think...I didn't count the downloads on my computer hard drive...we'd add another few K with these!* :)
My to-write list is longer than my to-read list if you ignore my Kindle. I currently have 4 paperbacks on my desk.
So many books on my TBR list! Seriously, and I just got back from RT, so have even more! And the to-write ... if I think about it, it'll be BAD.
I think my TBR shelf has over 1000 books. I have three paper boxes filled plus about 60 on my kindle and 80 on my nook.
My to-be-written pile has 8 in the queue, plus three ready for revision.

Wow, you all have so many to read and/or write. That's good though, as long as we can finish them all. ;-) My to-write list is planned for the next four years. Though, I did allow myself some room for the unexpected.
I have about 30 physical books on my to-read shelf, probably 10 more on my virtual bookshelf. Hundreds in the "I'd like to read one day but don't own yet" category. There's really no shortage of things to read, especially when I start browsing my library's ebook app. I really try to limit the ebooks that I haven't read yet, because that can get seriously out of hand.
My to-write list is much shorter. Right now I'm visualizing a multi-book series, but novellas are so much fun to write that I'm having a hard time buckling down for the full-length stories.
I tried to limit mine, too, Lacey, but now they're both out of control. One day I'll get them all done. ;)
