Prince of Tyto Chasing Terran Tail on Elatia

by Jessica E. Subject

Hello! I recently caught up with Aristides, Prince of Tyto, on the planet Elatia. It was a rare occasion to see the Prince away from home and without any guards, so I used the chance to ask him a few questions. Here’s what he had to say....

Hey, Prince Aris, what are you doing on Elatia? Are you alone?
Aris: Yes, I’m checking out all the planet has to offer.
So, you finally decided to leave Tyto?
Aris: [He nods with a sigh.] Yes, I needed a break from the place, from my parents.
Interesting. What does Madelia, your betrothed think of your trip here.
Aris: [He shrugs.] She doesn’t know, and I’m sure she doesn’t care. Our engagement has ended, and she’s quite happy with Benignus.
Your Gentleman of the Bedchamber? When did that happen?
Aris: Just before I left.
Yet, you don’t seem upset about it.
Aris: I’m not. The two of them were meant to be a couple, and I helped  to make it happen. [He smiles, as if proud at bringing the two of them together.]
So, what carnal pleasures do you plan on partaking in while visiting Elatia?
Aris: [He checks his watch.] I have an appointment with an Adamo shortly, but I’d rather hunt down the woman I just ran into. [He glances past me.] Did you happen to see another Terran like you dart past? Her name is Xia. I lost where she went.
No, but if I see another Terran, I’ll ask her name, and tell her you’re looking for her.
Aris: Thanks. [He wanders off.]
And there you have it. The Prince of Tyto is on the pleasure planet without his entourage. But, he is more interested in a woman who caught his eye. A Terran woman at that, a sworn enemy of his Kingdom.

Sci-Fi Romance Author Goes Contemporary!!

by Jessica E. Subject
The majority of my published stories and works-in-progress are science fiction romance, but I do have a couple of contemporary romances, including BENEATH THE STARRY SKY. It’s a contemporary erotic romance; no aliens, no spaceships, no foreign planets, although there are plenty of stars. :)
While I still try to keep the same pacing and emotion in my stories, the plots, settings and characters can be very different.

Plots – Maybe the plots are all very similar. I do believe that everyone across the universe deserves a happily-ever-after, regardless of race (including aliens), sexuality, and creed. But how the characters find their happily-ever-afters vary with every story.
Settings – In my science fiction romances, I’ve used cities and places I’m familiar with, or created my own planets and futuristic worlds. But in Beneath the Starry Sky, I set the story in Las Vegas, Nevada, a city I’ve never traveled to. While the city is foreign to me, it is not to many of my readers. Therefore, I had to ensure I had accurate details. After a shout-out to my fellow authors though, I found the details I needed to write this story.
Characters – This is my favorite part of writing science fiction romance. I can create a variety of different alien species and name them whatever I like, although I do try to keep the names pronounceable. I often use mythology to choose names as well. For example, in Celestial Seduction, Frey Berger and his home planet of Ginnun come from Norse mythology. In Beneath the Starry Sky, the hero and heroine are from Earth, but they are different from the normal population. Tamara Johnston has Alopecia Areata, an autoimmune skin disease, and Josh Summers has his own secret.
While there are these differences, I always try to encourage an emotional connection between the readers and my characters. And I like to show that love is possible for everyone.

Beneath the Starry Sky book trailer

About Beneath the Starry Sky:
Left at the altar with bald patches on her head and her self-confidence stripped away, Tamara Johnson must pick up the pieces of her life and face her Alopecia Areata, the autoimmune disease causing her hair to fall out. She is convinced no man will date a bald woman and arranges a one-night stand through Madame Evangeline’s popular service, 1Night Stand. With her new wig held firmly in place, Tamara arrives at the Castillo Hotel in Las Vegas for a night of passion and pleasure. Anything more than one night would mean exposing her bald head, and she will never do that to any man again.
Running into the Castillo Hotel, away from the paparazzi constantly at his heels, Josh Summers wants to spend his next few days locked away from the flashing lights and screaming fans. When he finds an incredibly sexy woman lying on his hotel room bed in nothing but lingerie, he thinks management has made a mistake. Leaving her behind, he heads for the lobby to get the situation rectified. But an unexpected text from Madame Evangeline sends him back to his room. Though unsure whether the woman on the bed is really his perfect match or just another fan believing him to be like his character on television, he knows he must find out, even if it means he must risk telling her his own secrets. If Tamara can handle his imperfections, she just might be his ideal woman.

The Rise of Audio books & a Giveaway!

Hello all! I’m Jessica E. Subject. Not only am I a Published Author with Decadent Publishing, I am also the Newsletter and Audio book Coordinator. Since September 2014, I have had the pleasure of working with wonderful narrators and authors in turning stories into a production you can listen to.
As a child, I remember seeing audio books at the local library. They were often a plastic case with several cassette tapes inside. (Yes, I’m sure I’m dating myself here.) After a while, the cassette tapes became CDs, and they were even available in children’s books. With the advent of digital technology, audio books are becoming more common because they are easier to produce for authors, and easier to obtain for readers.
I admit that getting used to someone reading a book to you can be a bit strange at first. It’s like going back to childhood when your parents read to you. But, sometimes it’s the only way people find time to enjoy fiction. I’ve heard from many people who lead busy lives that they often listen to audio books when doing chores and when driving. Some even mentioned their love of audio books began during family trips when their parents listened to audio books instead of music to make the drive seem shorter. Personally, I listen to audio books when I’m doing chores around the house, including vacuuming, doing the dishes, and making my kids’ lunches. I listen to audio books on my phone, purchasing them from Audible (Amazon). Sometimes they’re stories I already have in ebook format but haven’t had a chance to read, where I was offered the audio book at a cheaper price. Other times, they’re a new title. For those of you who prefer to support your local library, you can even borrow digital audio books from them if your library uses OverDrive. I borrow them through this service as well.
Right now, I have three audio books produced, Another Night, Another Planet, The Star Princess, and Unknown Futures. And in total, Decadent Publishing has twenty-nine audio book titles available, with two more pending approval, and others in various stages of production. You can find them on Audible, Amazon, and iTunes. I hope you will take a look at our titles and try one out!

*~*~* CONTEST! *~*~*

Enter to WIN a Decadent Publishing audio book! Five winners will be chosen. Must be 18 or older to enter. Please note: Winners must set up or already have an Audible.com account to receive their FREE audio book. Contest ends June 14, 2015.

Characters Who Want More

 by Jessica E. Subject

Sometimes, even if you have a wonderful life, and have all your needs met, you still want more. We see this in shows such as 90210 and The Hills.
In An Unexpected Return, Prince Aris has an entire realm at his beck and call, including women. But, he doesn’t want any of it. He longs to leave his underground kingdom and explore the rest of space, find love on his own terms. So, he hyjecks and ship and heads to the pleasure planet, Elatia.
Xia lives on the planet Elatia, raised by her adoptive mother, and trained to follow in her footsteps as an erotic masseuse. But, she doesn’t want to pleasure a new man every night. She wants to find one man for the rest of her life. That will never happen unless she leaves.
When these two meet, they find all they are looking for in each other. Yet, secrets are revealed that may cost these two  their chance at a happily ever after...

Enjoy an excerpt:
Walking into the silky rear-end of an oroke, she came to an abrupt halt. The creature had been walking at a steady pace and then stopped. She’d failed to notice in time. Wiping fluff off her face, she turned around and walked into another hard body. “I’m so sorry.”
Hands clamped down on her arms. “Are you all right?”
She stared up into deep brown eyes. Chewing her bottom lip, she nodded. If this man hadn’t been holding on to her, she would have fallen to the ground. The word swoon held no meaning for her until now.
Am I only like this because of the eletin I inhaled back home? Or was there something more she found heart-racing about the blue-skinned, well-muscled hunk of an Otarian who held her up?
No, she couldn’t feel anything for him. Their races had been sworn enemies for years. Everyone across the galaxy knew that. Yet here she was, standing face to face, gazing intently at him, with no will to move.
He smiled at her, drawing her attention from his eyes to his lips. How would they taste? She’d never kissed anyone intimately before.
“What’s your name?”
Name? Gods, what was her name? “Zee…Xia.” Had she told him, or only thought the word?
He released her arms to brush his fingers along her jaw line. How she remained standing, she had no idea.
“Xia. A beautiful name belonging to a beautiful woman.”
Moisture pooled between her thighs. Her cheeks warmed. “Thank you.”
She sighed as he trailed a hand down her arm. Her entire body tingled from his gentle touch.
“You’re welcome. Now tell me, why were you in such a rush that you walked into the rear end of that slow-moving beast? We’re supposed to be on vacation, enjoying all this planet has to offer.”
Laughing at his description of the oroke, she leaned against his arm. Never before had she enjoyed a man’s attention like this. “I’m not visiting. I live here. Have my whole life.”
He raised his eyebrows. “Really? So, what was it like growing up on the pleasure planet?”
“I…I don’t know. Normal?” She couldn’t think clearly around him. Her tongue felt numb in her mouth.
His smile traveled all the way up to his eyes. He leaned closer and rested his hand on her hip. “Then perhaps you could be my personal tour guide,” he whispered in her ear.
“I can’t. I have other plans.”
He drew back and frowned, but she could still see the glimmer in his eyes.
“I’m jealous of whoever you’re going to be spending your time with.”
She giggled at him. “I’m just going to sleep. It’s been a long day, and I’m afraid I wouldn’t be good company.” There was no way she would tell him she had to spend a few hours that night with another man.
Losing the fake expression, he smiled again. “Tomorrow then? I’d really like to see you again.”
Woo-hoo! A man wanted to see her again. It made her feel like the most desirable woman on the planet. “Sure, I’d like that, too.”

And others yet, are only beginning to learn of Planet Core’s deception, learning that those they trusted are not afraid to shoot them in cold blood.
The Underground series is the tale of the rebels from discovering Planet Core’s true intentions to their attack on the corporation and the resulting consequences. Will they find the freedom to live and love as they desire? Read the box set and find out...

An Author’s Favorite...

by Jessica E. Subject

Authors, as creative as we may be, are often creatures of habit. We have our favorite pens, places to work, music to listen to, scents, times of the day, temperatures, sounds, etc. Our favorites are generally the things that make us most comfortable and let our ideas flow freely.
For me, I like blue or black click pens with a built-in rubber grip. I do most of my work in the living room rather than my office, mostly because it’s warmer and more comfortable. I work better in the morning and like the scent of vanilla or chocolate covered cherries.
We also have our favorite stories, though many of us will never admit it. It’s like picking your favorite child, which I will never do. But, when it comes to my stories, I do have some that I like better than others. Why? I spent more time with them, researched like crazy, developed the characters more, and enjoyed every bit of the process. One of the stories in my favorites is Made For Her. I did a lot of research about the process of cloning, flying planes, and even had an airline pilot help me with a scene or two.
This month, Made For Her celebrates two years published, and has been mentioned on USA Today twice (here and here) and also on io9, a site that talks about all things science and sci-fi, as one of the Best Science Fiction Romance Novels You’ve Probably Never Heard Of. Quite an honor for me. And because I’m celebrating a book birthday, I’ve asked my publisher to mark this story down to 99¢ for the month. If you have not read this story, I hope you’ll take a chance on a sexy clone named Dare who’s also a military pilot in training.

Made For Her
Erotic Sci-Fi Military Romance
ISBN: 978-1613334348

After terrorists murder the love of her life, Colonel Mikayla Jones trains squadron after squadron of the clones he brought to life, to take to the skies. When she discovers a young clone of her husband in her newest class, her world spins out of control. How can she command the look-a-like when she can’t help but yearn for him to fill an ache in her heart?
Dare was created to be the best. As the first Daniel clone to leave Onatria labs, he needs to prove he is more than just a DNA copy. To do that, he must rely on the wife of the man who donated his genes. But when she refuses to train him, Dare faces discharge and returning to the labs. Can he convince Colonel Jones to finish his training and find a way into her bed? Or will long kept secrets unhinge the entire clone project?

Available from Amazon.com, All Romance eBooks, and Decadent for only $0.99 until the end of January!!!

Excerpt:
Colonel Jones eyed each one of her new cadets, examining the neatness of their uniforms, while inspecting for signs of stress or over-anxiousness. She’d never seen the telltale muscle twitches or sweats in any previous clones, only in human-borns, but she had to look for them anyway.
The first generation of clones didn’t live long enough to become cadets. Their hearts gave out within a year after incubation. But the scientists at Onatria had plowed on, utilizing more of Daniel’s research, speeding up the aging process with hormones to create the perfect generation she saw before her.
She’d had female clones in previous squadrons, but the government filled the one in front of her with testosterone-driven masculinity. If she’d been younger, she’d have a hard time concentrating. But her days of crushes and fantasies were long over. She was devoted to serving her country and planet, and nothing else.
That didn’t stop her from going out on the town for a stress-relieving fuck from time to time. But these young men in front of her appeared so virile, sure to last longer than any of her previous sexual partners.
No. As junior officers, and more importantly, as clones, they were off limits.
Inspecting them gave her the opportunity to check out more than their fatigues and tics, but if they knew her thoughts, they’d walk all over her. She’d be done.
They were of varying nationalities, builds, and heights, all fit to serve the planet. None of the cadets revealed any indication he would put the lives of others in jeopardy. This will be an easy squadron, every one of them ready to fly in a matter of weeks.
She reached the last cadet and froze. Her stomach clenched. No, they couldn’t have!
She pivoted on her heel and rushed off the tarmac, leaving the squad without an instructor.
