Chilling in Cabo

Buy Chica Bella HERE

By Carly Fall
Last year, I was very fortunate to be able to go on vacation to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. While there, I began forming the story, Chica Bella.
Cabo is a very special place. The beaches are white, the sea and the sky seem to be a brighter shade of blue, the air was crisp and clean, and it is also the place where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean.
While there, I was able to do many of the things that my hero, Landon, and heroine, Maya, experience in ChicaBella. For instance, we took a glass-bottomed boat out to sea, and saw some beautiful fish. It was like watching a living rainbow come to life in some areas. Our captain also took us out a little farther, and we were fortunate enough to see whales up close, which was lucky as it was the very end of whale season and most had migrated elsewhere.
While going to and from the harbor, we watched huge seals jump on to the back of slow-going boats, looking for food. Once a seal was on a boat, it wouldn't get off until it was fed. We had one seal that followed us closely, but there wasn't a platform for him to jump onto on our boat. I would have loved to feed him as Maya and Landon do in Chica Bella.
We were also there during Spring Break, and we had a great time laughing at all the drunken college kids—and there were plenty! There were some unruly ones, as there is in Chica Bella, but there weren't any hunky Navy SEALS around like Landon to put them in their places. The resort we stayed in was exactly as it is in Chica Bella. It sat on the beach, and I took a nap in a lounge chair facing the ocean, the breeze lulling me into a restful sleep, just as Landon does.

Chica Bella blurb:
Landon “Blackhawk” Walker is ready to get out of the Navy SEALs. He has seen and done enough, and can’t wait to get to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where three tasks await him: get back into civilian mode, take a boat out to the El Arco Rocks, and win back the heart of the woman he lost because of his career.
Maya Gonzalez has tired of the heartbreak that comes with Landon’s deployments year after year. When he walks back into her life, she cannot deny her heart, despite her reservations.
As they lose themselves in each other and the beauty of Cabo, their passion is rekindled once again, but Maya knows that one phone call means deployment for Landon, putting an end to their reunion, and possibly their relationship.

Since my mom passed away I haven't taken very many trips as she was my travel companion. Hubby doesn't like to travel and spends his vacation time working wheat harvest for a friend. Cruising was my favorite vacation "spot" before all the problems the cruise ships have been having lately. I need to find a summer readers convention and start doing that yearly!

I have a bucket list of place I would like to vacation - New Zealand, India, China, Argentina and the South Pacific. But, near and dear to my heart is Panama, where I was born and raised. My husband went there, courtesy of the US Army, so he only got to see "strategic targets." I would like to take him back with me, to visit my family, explore the beaches and the newly evolving jungle ecotourism.

Congrats on your new release, Carly! Chica Bellas sounds fascinating! Cabo sounds beautiful, too. I can imagine relaxing on the beach to the sound of the waves.

I love the premise! A relationship where one partner travels is difficult to sustain. Can't wait to find out what happens to Maya and Landon!

Congrats on your release. I hadn't heard of Cabo. I do love white beaches though. I haven't decided on a favourite place to take a vacation but it has to be sunny!

Whoohooo! A new Honor Guard! Glad to have you join us!

Scotland is my favorite place to vacation, hands down. I'd pick up and move tomorrow if I had a way of supporting myself.

Sounds wonderful - the place and the story. Love the cover too. Welcome to Decadent, Carly. I've found it's a great place to hang though I would bet Cabo would still have it beat. Maybe we can all meet on the beach some day.

Congratulations, Carly on your new release.
As long as I get to travel, I'm as happy with sandy beaches as I am with old ruins and quaint villages.

I adore the setting of your book - wish I could go there right now. I'm crazy about seals, whales and all sea creatures.
