As a writer, I look for inspiration everywhere. Most of the time, I get it from songs. The more songs I put on my playlist, the more inspired I get to write about a character or story.
When I was writing my novel, Forget Me Not, I listened to a lot of Tim McGraw and Garth Brooks, partly because they were big at the time I started writing the book and partly because I’m a big fan of both.
When it came time to do revisions I found more songs that inspired me to delve deeper into my characters. This song, by Christina Aguilera laid a strong foundation for my character Casey Martinez, and, in a way, tells her back story.

As the novel progressed and I looked closer at Casey’s relationship with Scott Weller, this song came to mind. These two characters are afraid to take a chance on love, Natasha Bedingfield’s song Soul Mate told their story.

Because this novel is a Latina romance, I end their story with this song.
Yo Te Amo Chayanne
These three songs are my inspiration for everything I write. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

It's fascinating the way songs inspire writers!! Natalie Imbruglia's song Shamed inspired my first ever vampire story - except when she sings - shamed, lying broken on the floor - I was sure she said chained, lying broken on the floor - so I had my vamp in chains! LOL
lol...hey, it worked. ;-)
Thank you for stopping by.
fun post! I always have songs in my head while writing...can't wait to share more on my Monday Play List soon.
I'm the same way. I love music, it is always inspiring my writing. Great songs you've got there.
I have a wide variety of songs I listen to. When I start a new story, I go through them to see which songs work best for that story and thus create the story's playlist. Some songs though are on every story's playlist. LOL Fascinating how much music truly inspires us.
