Hello, I’m Ema from Lia Davis’s, Ravished Before Sunrise. Lia had asked me to come by and introduce myself and share what life’s been like since my one-night stand. And yes, I was ravished that night and *she lowers her voice to a whisper* every night since.

I’m an artist. I can paint, but enjoy sculpting more. There’s just something about working with my hands and creating something out of a hunk of clay. But being an artist isn’t my only talent. From as long as I can remember can see the paranormal. No not ghost, although I do see them too, but the magical signature of a were, or shifter, a vampire, demon, and any other supernatural being. I know they’re not human and they were threatened by that. My “gift” forced me to move into the coven with my BFF Beth.

My one night of passion and chance to act normal, or not so normal, changed the way I live my life. I no longer have to hide from the paranormal world. I’m still not well liked because of my succubus half, but I’m use to that. *she rolls her eyes and laughs* I’m happy that I am considered a “supernatural citizen”.

And my vampire, well he’s as yummy as ever and all mine. *she smiles*

Emalee’s pulse raced as she drummed her fingers on her desk and searched the website. A giddiness she hadn’t known since senior prom ran through her. The site claimed unlimited possibilities, a chance for adventure. Could they mean it? Because she’d already seen things beyond what humans deemed possible. Hell, her whole existence was unimaginable. 

 

Her life had taken a lonesome turn when a friend she hadn’t seen since high school noted how much younger than the rest of her classmates she looked.  Her long-lasting youth had become a liability. Drawing too much attention to her unusual gift wouldn’t prove wise. In some cases, it could get her killed.  With no alternative, she’d closed the door on her life among humans and moved into the local witch coven, where everyone was different.

“What will you do?” Her best friend since preschool, a coven member in good standing, sat next to her for moral support and encouragement. Ema didn’t need much encouragement. The second Beth had mentioned a one-night stand, she’d been hooked. And Madame Eve’s dating service would save her from dying of boredom, at least for one night.

Some men like to shop, while for some it’s like dragging them to the doctor or dentist office. My husband is one of those who dislikes it and will avoid it when possible. Although there are times I get him into a store. Let me tell you it is very amusing.

His idea of shopping is to rush through the store and get what he came to get and leave. Period. Me on the other hand, I like to take my time because it is practically the only time I get to myself. I usually take about an hour to grocery shop, and I do it in the morning where there aren’t as much people in the store. It’s nice.

When DH and I go together, and I start to wander off to the book aisle, or stop to look at something not on the must have list, he groans. Sometimes he’ll snap his fingers and indicate to follow him. LOL. The snapping of the fingers is something he does to get the cats to behave. It doesn’t work on me. LOL. After 12 years he’s still trying to get it to work on me though. Ha! I laugh when he does it and usually do what I want anyway.

Despite the snapping fingers and “no, you don’t need that”, I love shopping with him. Mostly because we’re together.
