What’s Your Plan?

If an emergency were to happen, would you be ready? Do you have a plan for what to do if the time comes when you have to shelter in place? What if you have to evacuate?

In Survivefor My Love, Sara and Dane both had plans. They were prepared for any emergency, and because of that, they found a way to survive in a world that was falling apart around them. Would you be ready to do the same?

If you have to shelter in place, would you have enough food and water on-hand? What about personal care supplies? First aid and medications? Being prepared at home is fairly easy and everyone should have at least a couple weeks worth of extra non-perishable food and water available. Buy when there are sales and make sure to rotate your stock, putting the new items at the back and using the old items in your everyday cooking. Same for personal goods. Buy when you can find a deal! Before you know it, you’ll have a modest stockpile of supplies to keep you going in an emergency.

If you have to evacuate, do you know where to go? Will you head north or south? On highways or back roads? What if the members of your family are not together? Do you have a meeting place (or 2!) already picked out and marked on maps? If you don’t, you should. Sit down with your family and work through a couple of very simple plans on where to meet and how to get there. If you ever need the information one day (let’s hope not!!) then you’ll feel more comfortable because you will be prepared and everyone will know where they should go.

In Survivefor My Love, Sara’s family had plans. Then they had back-up plans and more plans beyond those! Because of that, Sara knew exactly where to go to meet her family. But when they didn’t show up after a couple of weeks, well past their agreed upon time limit, she knew exactly where to look next—their Plan B location. Together Sara and Dane set off to find her family and hopefully a way to not only survive but also thrive in this new world.
