It’s been some time since I’ve been featured on the Decadent blog and it’s a pleasure to be back. When thinking about what I wanted to talk about today, I kept coming back to just one topic - Heroes. Usually the heroes in romance books are larger than life figures: billionaires, cowboys, pirates, soldiers, and so on; dashing figures that rescue the heroine whether from a literal foe or a figurative one. But in my Decadent release, Goddess of the Hunt, the heroine, CIA covert operative Paige Aster, is a larger than life character fully capable of handling whatever danger looms. I needed a strong, sexy man that would complement Paige without detracting from her uniqueness.
Enter Eoin Fitzpatrick [inspired by the
handsome-as-sin Michael Fassbender]. A man of caution and contradictions, he is
torn between a sense of chivalry, his lust for his partner and the quest for
justice that drives him. He knows, even while he succumbs to Paige’s seduction,
that he may be forced to choose between his lover and bringing down the men
that destroyed his family.
And in
that decisive moment, Eoin proves, in my opinion, the defining characteristic
of what makes a hero.
GODDESS OF THE HUNT
by Becky Flade
Codename Diana
CIA
field agent Paige Aster hides a cunning intelligence and lethal skill behind a
mask of golden beauty. It serves her well as she moves from one undercover
assignment to the next.
Current Mission
Retrieve
a stolen United States military defense program from a terrorist cell in
Dublin, Ireland, before they trade it to Islamic extremists in exchange for
munitions. Her only back up on this time-sensitive mission is a deeply embedded
MI-6 operative.
Her Asset
Eoin
Fitzpatrick has sacrificed everyone he holds dear to bring these terrorists to
justice. He’ll sacrifice Diana, too, if she threatens to compromise his mission
or his cover. He has orders to do just that – his agency is only doing hers a
favor.
Compromised or Comprising?
Paige
expects danger, but welcomes passion taking her pleasure where and when it’s offered.
She’s not prepared for the effect Eoin has on her. Or what happens when she
surrenders to him. Paige burns for Eoin but will he leave her burned…

I think you nailed it, Becky. A hero makes the hard choices, even when he'd rather not. Eoin is a very fine example of that!
Thank you, Liv!
Sounds like my kind of story. Can't wait to read this.
