Forget Me Not available HERE |

So,
back in August, our lovely webmaven put a call out for bloggers, and since I
haven’t blogged on the Daily Decadent Blog in...well, forever, I jumped up and
said ME! ME! Then I proceeded to put it off thinking, pssh, I have until November.
Yep, here we are, it's November and I made it under the deadline...more
or less. My procrastination has gotten the better of me.
Although I don’t’
think it’s my procrastination insomuch as my sudden onset of adult ADD. No, I
haven’t actually been diagnosed with ADD, it’s my own analysis. My husband
seems to think it’s because I’m getting old (sorry girls, he’s all mine) and he
thinks I’m getting forgetful. But it’s really not that, it’s because, after
raising four kids, I’m so used to multitasking, that I can’t seem to turn it
off. It may seem like I’m easily
distracted lately and I can’t seem to stay focused on one thing at a time, but
really it’s because my mind doesn’t shut off and it’s caused my multi-tasking to
get out of control!
This
past Saturday, for instance, I woke up, determined to get a couple thousand
words written on the new book. I sat down, opened the new file and proceeded to
check the three email accounts I have. Then, a trip into the kitchen to refill
my coffee cup turned into an hour of cleaning the dishes, sweeping the floor,
pulling out the steamer to clean the floor in the kitchen, moving to the dining
room and rearranging the dining table, then moving into the den to steam clean
that floor and rearranging the sofa, then cleaning off the 'catch all' table my
husband put in there, then taking something into the living room and realizing
that floor needs to be vacuumed and noticing the bookshelf could use a dusting,
then taking the shampoo I’d bought the day before that’s still sitting on the
kitchen table up to my bedroom and noticing the master bath could use a good
cleaning.....and by the time I got back to my office it’s 3:00 in the afternoon
and I have to take my daughter to work. Thankfully, my husband wanted to smoke
a brisket, so I didn’t have to worry about cooking dinner.
You
know, back when we were first married, my husband was a major procrastinator. After
over 20 years together, I think it rubbed off on me. Now I procrastinate and he
can multitask. How’d that happen??
