Pick Up Lines

It’s always a challenge to come up with a blog post that might interest…well, more than just myself. While I was thinking that over, my mind turned to “pick-up lines.”  Who knows why? The mind just works in mysterious ways sometimes.

Anyway, many of us who have been in the dating scene have experienced hearing some great pick-up lines, some “are you crazy?” lines, some adorably sweet lines, and many other classifications of lines. I don’t really use much of that in my stories. But I managed to scrounge up a few from some of my published books and here they are, as brilliant as they are (just kidding, of course).

“Well, little darlin’, aren’t you a pretty one.” (Camden, from Rose’s Cowboys)

“Just one dance first. Think of my reputation, darlin’.” (Camden, from Rose’s Cowboys)

“What would it take to convince you, sweet thing?” (Dexter, from Santa Wears Spurs)

And here are some of my initial meeting lines that aren’t necessarily for “picking up” the other person.

“Nice tush! Definitely. I give it a ten out of ten.” (Molly, from The Trouble with Molly)

“You’re mighty handsome, Handsome.” (Valentine, from Valentine’s Cowboy)

“Catching beautiful women is what I do.” (Chase, from Her Personal Trainer)

“Like what you see, My Lady?” (Lord Nicholas Neville, from Maggie Mine)

Now that I’ve thought about this subject, maybe I need to rethink my first meetings for the characters in the stories I’m currently working on for Decadent Publishing. Unfortunately it’s too late for that for Acceptance, my recently contracted story for The Edge series because it is already in editing.
