Nominating a Labour of Love!!!

By Kali Willows

Being an author is allot of work, but it is a labour of love! It is such a spiritual and emotional journey, the words pouring out as you bang away on the keyboard, shaping the characters and storylines swimming in your head.
After the purge, comes the really hard work; perseverance, endless hours of editing and re-writes, feedback, and then onto submissions. Even after you finally succeed at contracting your work, there are many more edits and re-writes, and until; Voila, the finished product.
But alas, it’s only the beginning. The bigger job is self promotion of getting your work exposed to the masses, all in the hopes, that this magnificent product of your creativity, your heart and soul, can move people, affect them, and most of all, entertain them.
What are the payoffs? For me, my most favourite, is receiving comments from a reader about how they were touched by the special moments, the plot, the interactions that meant so much to me as I wrote them. That, I find is the ultimate payoff. Now, I am thrilled to be blessed with the next perk:

Double Dragon Seduction was nominated for:
The First Ménage Romances Fan’s Choice Awards 2013!
In the Category:
Shape Shifters Ménage Romances

Double Dragon Seduction – is a yummy tale of interracial / urban fantasy / erotic romance (ménage), with two of the most scrumptious heroes that to this day, make me swoon!

BLURB:
Gwen Trembley is disturbed with the upcoming wedding of her reprehensible ex, and coping with her emerging dark side with a surprising talent. Years of suppressed sexuality prompts her unyielding need for an extraordinary experience. Gwen seeks the services of 1NS for a night where new carnal knowledge will revive her damaged soul. Madame Eve has the perfect arrangements, but perhaps twice what she bargained for.

Twin brothers Tatsu and Yong Li, are in desperate need of a unique woman who can accept them as inseparable. They carry not one, but two inconceivable secrets. These exotic brothers can’t be with just any woman, and any who dare try, will find themselves facing the most passionate, lust-filled night of their lives, but will she survive? More so, will they? Madame Eve finds a match they never expected possible.

EXCERPT:
“This isn’t such a good idea, Tatsu.”
“Little brother, we have to get a date soon.”
“But surely there’s another way…?”
“Trust me. I don’t need to remind you of the consequences if we ignore the signs much longer.” He plopped on the side of his bed and took a long, fortifying swallow of his latte.
“No, you don’t.” Shrugging his shoulders to loosen his tight muscles, Yong sank back in the armchair and placed his cup on the table beside him.
“Besides, with an ordinary date, we’d be obligated to explain, but our one-night stand comes with no strings attached. She won’t even know how to contact us afterward.” Not that she’ll want to. She’ll probably be so freaked out, she’ll move to Ecuador to put more space between her and us.
“So, how does it work?”
“Madame Eve arranged a match for the night, and then we can get back to normal.”
“How did you find the service?” Yong was puzzled.
“Grandfather knew Eve from years ago. He assured me she is discreet and can be trusted with…” he glanced at the hotel room door before lowering his voice to continue, “…anything.”
“Grandfather approved the plan then?”
“Yes, and we would do well to follow his advice. We’re running out of time.”
Tatsu  fidgeted with his cup before setting it on the bedside table.
“Is it uncomfortable?” Studying his older brother for any signs of the change, Yong cringed as Tatsu rubbed the drying skin on his forearm.
“It’s nothing I can’t handle.”

I do have a few questions today! Do awards and nominations for awards, sway your interest towards reading a new book or make you more curious about the author, or any of their other works? What types of readers’ awards do you like the most? Does seeing that title of nominee or winner on the author’s website, or the badge of the award make an author or publisher stand out more to you?
If you would like to enter for a chance to win an eBook copy of Double Dragon Seduction, then please, leave a comment and be sure to leave your email address so I can contact the winner for the giveaway!

Congrats on your nomination, Kali!
Now as for your questions - no, I don't take any notice of whether a book has won a prize or been placed etc. The reason is - I did in the past and couldn't see why those books had won. It seemed to me to be a matter of how many friends you could get to vote for you. Mary's competition is different though because authors couldn't nominate their own books - though I suppose a friend could do it for you, but as far as I know, the voting is secret, so no one knows how many votes they have. I like that much better than open view of votes. But its all so subjective. There could be lots of very good stories that never get reviewed let alone get into any competitions, so I rely on blurbs, suggestions by others and knowing the author to decide whether I'd buy.
Would seeing the logo on someone's site impress me? Not really - see reason above.
