Delicious Thanksgiving

Buy Dessert First HERE

by Emily Cale
I’m currently overseas enjoying the 80F winters and more Indian food than anyone ever wanted. Most of the time that is okay, but I’m a little sad to be missing out on Thanksgiving. With all the traveling I’ve done over the years, this is actually the first time I’ll be missing out on the holiday.

The last time I went to my husband’s grandparent’s home for Thanksgiving I got to be one of only two people with a fork (they are Japanese and use chopsticks). The other person was four years old. That said, I think I made a pretty good effort. Have you ever tried to eat cranberry sauce with chopsticks? It’s really, really hard. Also hard to eat with chopsticks: mashed potatoes, turkey (how do I cut it?), and pretty much everything else.

I haven’t had a family Thanksgiving in about 6 years. The plane flights are too expensive for such a short time, especially when it is only a few weeks until my husband and I go home to visit our families for Christmas. That doesn’t mean we’ve been missing out though. For the two of us, we always make a wonderful spread of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, yam, and pies. There are usually enough leftovers to last us until Christmas, but we love every minute of it.

So, in the spirit of making me incredibly jealous of the amazing food you have, I’m asking you all to leave a comment telling me your favorite Thanksgiving food. I’ll pick one commenter to win a copy of any of my Decadent Publishing books (Dessert First, Public Display of Affection, Goalie Interference, or Power Play).

I’ll be over here eating my goat and rice (yes, that’s probably what I’m actually having today).

Emily Cale never intended to write dirty books, it just worked out that way. While her creative writing professors would be appalled at the way she turned out, she's delighted to spend her days hanging out with her kinky characters.  Some might call her crazy, but she prefers the term multi-published erotic romance writer. When Emily isn't writing, you can find her curled up on her couch with her husband and two needy cats. You can visit her website, follow her on Twitter, or friend her on Facebook.

Never had goat and rice, but would give it a try. This year I made a new pie...Bourbon Pecan Pie with Bourbon Whipped Cream. OH man was it amazing! Not something I would eat everyday as my hips would not like it,but it tasted so good.

Happy Thanksgiving!

I've had goat once when a college classmate invited several of us over for a traditional Nigerian meal. It was pretty good! My favorite Thanksgiving dish would be cornbread dressing. This year I made Maple Glazed Parsnips with Pecan. Yummy! Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite thanksgiving food is kind of old fashioned - I love Waldorf salad. Thanksgiving dinner seems to be the only time I make it.

I come from an Asian household so I'm used to using chopsticks although it is a bit weird to be eating cranberry sauce with chopsticks...I'm sure you could have asked for a spoon or something.

I love eating stuffing when Thanksgiving rolls around. I don't usually eat it other than on Thanksgiving so it's a bit of a treat.

Sounds like a lot of interesting travels. It's good that you like to try new things. Your books are hot, but also have a fum side.

Hi Valerie,
thank you for the chance at such a great giveaway. Sorry you missed the holiday but you can always have it when you get home. one year i had 2 brothers and 1 sister all in the service and so we left our tree up all year and had the stuff to make dinner just in case they could come home. when they did(august or something) we really appreciated it and that we were together. isn't that what the holidays are all about? my favorite food is candied yams.

I love turkey. I guess for all the associated memories. Maybe someday I'll be daring enough to try goat.
