Show and Tell Saturday with D.L. Jackson!

Sometimes Fairytales come true.

First Sergeant Cori Valentine faces a bleak future. She’s turning forty in three weeks and her life as she knows it is over. An injury received while on deployment has earned her an early retirement from the Marine Corp, something she’s not sure she’ll survive. Things get even crazier when interfering Marines set her up on a blind date for a party she doesn’t want. The guy has to be a total toad to want to go out with her. Right?

When Madame Eve tells Retired Seal, Sol Keller she’s found his perfect match, he doesn’t believe her, but takes her up on the challenge. One look at the sexy First Sergeant in a ball gown and combat boots has him wondering if fairytales really can come true. Madame Eve might just be the legendary Fairy Godmother, and Cori his Cinderella. Now Sol intends to show the Marine beauty a Prince Charming she’ll never forget, and that retirement isn’t the end of her story, but merely the beginning.

Hello,
I’m a new author with Decadent Publishing, and this is what will be the first of many posts you’ll see. I chose to post “Show and Tell Saturday” because I want not just to talk about my new release, Cinderella Wore Combat Boots, but tell you a little about the inspiration behind this tale of love, courage and heroes.

First the heroes, who inspired me to write the story.

Please meet the Devil Dogs of 2-8 Golf Company, Marine Infantry.

When you first open Cinderella Wore Combat Boots, you will probably notice the dedication and to whom the story is first and foremost, dedicated. These young men have just come home after several long months in Afghanistan. They are heroes—they are the warriors that made me want to do more than write a story about them.

Our men in women in uniform serve in many ways, but all wear the same boots of a warrior. Some disarm ordnance, others treat the sick in field hospitals, or on the battlefields, and yet others carry weapons, patrolling dangerous areas where their lives are always on the line. Some even push paper and process the paychecks that provide food and shelter for dependents, so those family’s warriors can keep their minds on the mission. There are a thousand ways they are my heroes, those are just a few.

Why The Wounded Warrior Project?
As a US Army vet and mother to a Marine serving in Afghanistan, this is a very special story to me. It will be the first story I’ll have released with Decadent Publishing as part of their 1NightStand series, http://wwwdecadentpublishing.com

All royalties I earn from the sale of Cinderella Wore Combat Boots will be donated to The Wounded Warrior Project,  https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org

This organization provides help to vets wounded in conflicts and support to their families as they recover from their injuries, helping them to move forward in their lives with dignity and honor. Please consider purchasing Cinderella Wore Combat Boots and help me give back to those who have given so much in the line of duty.

A heartfelt message, Dawn. I know how much the military means to you!!! Those soldiers all look so young! Or is it me growing old?

I can't wait to read this book! I bought it yesterday and I'm saving it for my Labor Day beach trip. Well, I'm saving it if I can manage to not tear into it this afternoon. Love your dedication and mission.

Thanks all. They are young, but they have so much heart.

Many have children of their own that they just want to do their part to make it a better world for them.

Top photo--my son is the 4th from the left on the bottom.

I read CWCB last night. A lovely, fun read and so perfect to donate proceeds toward the military. And such a lovely group shot, including your son, Dawn. You must be so proud!

The Upper lacing system is fitted with speed laces for quick entry and the boot laces to the toe for a secure fit.
