Panty Tales

By Stephanie Beck

 Underoos. Skivvies. Panties.

I didn’t realize underwear didn’t have to come in plastic bags hanging on a Wal Mart wall until I was nearly eighteen. Up until then, all of my underwear came in the packs of seven or eight bought at the beginning of the school year and meant to last until the next round of school shopping. Sure, there were more options in the stores, but we never bothered to look at them, let alone buy them. My mom wasn’t big into spending on fancy undergarments. Bras were white and if those packs of underwear had a few pairs with flowers on them, well that was kind of cute-right?

My first pair of special, not from the Hanes Her Way collection panties came from Victoria Secret. Two of my friends insisted I go with them one afternoon when we were at the mall looking for shirts. Spending money on underwear hadn’t really crossed my mind at that point. Why in the world would I pay nearly five dollars for a pair of underwear when I had a drawer full of perfectly good granny panties?  I succumbed to peer pressure and spent twenty dollars at the store on garments that would be hidden under my clothes at nearly all times. At the time I didn’t think it was a great investment.

Then I started wearing them. I didn’t buy anything too risqué, just a few pair of bikini-style panties. I hadn’t thought much of the colors or design, but by comparison, my old ones were plain and boring. Before long, my plain jane undies had been pushed to the back of the drawer, replaced by several new pair of panties in bright purple, green, yellow, even tiger stripes. I bought silk ones and even tried a few in lace.

I soon learned that a girl could spend a whole lot of babysitting money on underwear, but as that girl, well, I was one happy camper.

In Panties Optional, Maggie Chase chooses to leave her panties at home in anticipation of a wild night of sex and debauchery after signing on to Madam Eve’s 1 NightStand dating service. Her date, Sam, doesn’t mind the decision at all and the lack of obstacles help things turn hot and heavy very quickly.

Now, for me, I don’t know if I’d go the commando route. I’m more of a satin and lace kind of girl when it comes to planned seduction. Or, in the event of not-so-planned seductions, cotton covered in Care Bears seems to serve me well. What about you? What’s your favorite in your undies-arsenal?

Well, when finally I found pretty panties in my size I fell in love with colors to match the bras that finally came in something other than white and black in my size.

I'm a fan of boyshorts at this point... ;-)

Not thongs!! I'm sure men invented those.
I like my little grey pants with a smiley face on the butt.

I agree on the thongs Barbara!! Torture devices!!

I'm so glad you found some pretty ones Maureen. I've heard about the plight of the girls who can't find pretty bigger bras (as I have skittles in place of breasts, I can usually find my bras in the JR department where they come in neon...if I wanted that).

We used to put smiley faces on the butts of our tennis bloomers. Smiling butts are always more friendly LOL.

Totally get the granny panty thing. I come from a very long line of granny panty supporters. But I was the rebel. I moved away and wandered into a Lane Bryant one day, and, *gasp* bought 5 pairs of panties for $35.00!!! My mother thought I was out of my mind.
Then I bought her a pair for Christmas. I think I converted her. Now, when she comes down to visit, we have to go to Lane Bryant for a couple of new pairs for her. She realized that they were good quality and fit superbly. They didn't have strings hanging from the elastic after two washes.
Sorry, you've hit a subject near and dear to my, uh, butt. Great post. The book sounds damn hot! Congratulations!

Thanks JM!! I understand your passion on panties. I'm glad you and your mom discovered a brand that fits just right. It's the little things in life-like a nice pair of panties-that makes the day brighter

Panties? I'd much rather "go commando" :)

Commando works! Well, works as long as you aren't wearing a skirt while there are children under the age of 4 around....

Bras are definately not made for me. My torso is broad and my cup size tiny. I have a willow figure except for my bottom half.
However, it took a comment from my then boyfriend--now husband--to introduce to sexy panties. Besides books they are my most lavish indulgence.
Congratulations and the best of luck with your new book.

Hey Steph,

Scott Carpenter's got a pair of panties just like these...says he's going to wear them on Tuesday:)

I want pictures!

Sad to say it was my daughters who introduced me to sexy panties. They came to my house one day and threw out all my undies. Right into the trash! Then they hauled me off to a place called...wait for it...Lydia's Lovelies...Lingeries for every figure. They even had panties for mine, and trust me, willowy isn't my figure. I went wild. I n ow have lace trimmed panties in every hot color and even four pair of pink with smiley faces. I think undies make the woman.

Great post, Stephanie! One Christmas, in my stocking, I got a packet of seven pairs of underwear. They had the days of the week on them. I was horrified, and tossed them aside.

I prefer Victoria Secret panties, but not thongs. I don't find them comfortable. I like something that doesn't cut in all the wrong places. lol

Good for your daughters Desiree! And good for you for joining in the panty revolution :)

I totally agree with what every one has said. Great undies DO make the woman. I've recently lost 60 pounds, with another 100 to go to make my goal. At the 50 mark I had to go out and buy new ones as we'll all agree there is nothing worse than ill-fitting drawers!
Much as I like LB; I'm currently hooked on Fashion Bug where I have my pick of rainbow colors with polkadots!!
Good luck with your story, Steph. May you have wondrous reviews.

I loved the Fashion Bug where my Mom lived...then it closed. Sigh. Have to travel quite a distance to find one now!

Good for you with your weight loss Veronica!! Good luck with hitting that goal and having to buy a new panty wardrobe soon!

Kathleen-ha! My sister and I got packs of undies one Christmas! We still give my mom crap for that, but she still maintains that it could have been worse-she thought about giving us wash clothes.
