Celestial Seduction Playlist by Jessica Subject

Music is very important in my life. Besides writing, it is one of the only things that can calm my mind. While I usually don’t listen to music while writing, I do listen to certain songs before I write in order to focus my thoughts.
I write Science Fiction Romance or Alien Romance, so my song selection is limited when it comes to songs about aliens. There are some out there though and of course, I love them. J
Here is my playlist for my upcoming release, Celestial Seduction which will be part of Decadent Publishing’s 1NightStand series:
E.T. by Katy Perry ft. Kanye West

I downloaded this song before the video came out, so my version does not include Kanye West, but I still love this song. On the CD I have in the van, this song is back to back with Born This Way by Lady Gaga and my daughter and I sing to them both very loud.
Spaceman by Bif Naked

I have been listening to this song for as long as I can remember. It is a must for me on any playlist. Usually (as in E.T.), songs talk about alien abductions, but this song talks about an alien rescue. My kind of song! J
Come Sail Away by Styx

I’m a Styx fan and this song has so many memories attached to it. Takes a while to get to the part about the aliens, but it is there.
The Call by Regina Spektor

This song has nothing to do with aliens, but it is very inspirational when it comes to my writing. It always seems to help me out of a funk, such as when I don’t know where to take my story next.
Men In Black by Will Smith

I can’t write about aliens and not listen to this song. Another classic.
Do you know of any other songs involving aliens out there? If you write SFR, what songs do you listen to for inspiration in your writing?

I listen to music whilst writing - I have everything from Enya to 30 Seconds to Mars on my laptop (selecting shuffle can lead to some interesting back-to-back results!) - though it's usually instrumental soundtracks.

So I love reading playlist posts and discovering new-to-me talent. Thanks for sharing!

I always listen to music during writing, because it helps me stay planted in the chair! As for actual inspiration? Music doesn't usually influence my writing. The closest thing is Evolution by Korn, but that makes me want to write dark dystopian SF, not aliens or SFR. I also have a couple of songs by Manowar that trigger a desire to write epic fantasy. The urges goes away after the songs are over :)

Congrats on the upcoming release!

Misa - I have Enya on my laptop and my phone, ripped from my CD. I'll have to check out 30 Seconds to Mars. Thanks!

KC - Music never helps me stay planted. I always want to get up and dance. LOL. But it is true, music does effect the genre. Thank you!

Your playlist is great, I love it! I'm so excited for your book to come out. Now I'll have the music to go along with the read. :)

Great playlist hon. Oh man I use to love Bif Naked! Great choice. I am always listening to music when I am on the computer writing a review or anything. I just can't stand the quiet, it freaks me out LOL! Although I can't read while reading, I lose concentration and start singing along or something LOL! Great post hon, thank you for sharing :)

Thanks for stopping by Diana! I have to turn the music off for the same reason.

Very nice playlist, Jessica! I can't think of any other songs involving aliens at the moment. I bet I'll come up with one when I least expect it. lol
