I'm shy. I know you're laughing so hard right now, milk or some other beverage just shot out your nose. I've learned how to make small talk with anyone because of my job, but if you ask me to approach someone who makes me nervous, I'll balk.
What you see is what you get with me. I can't fake nice. And I seriously hate bullies.
I read the ending of mystery stories before I start chapter one because I absolutely can't stand not knowing whodunnit. And I'm usually too stupid to figure it out.
I love cloudy, dreary days. Too many sunny days in a row is irritating. Hence, living in Florida was torture for me.
I kick major butt at any trivia game. A guy proposed to me after I beat him at Trivial Pursuit. My mother-in-law got mad at me for not auditioning for Jeopardy one time. And I think smart is sexy.
My feet look like Fred Flintstone's. You can ask my husband, he reminds me of this fact quite regularly. And after walking for days at RT, they are very FLAT Fred Flintstone feet. Ouch.
I have so many unfinished stories, I've pissed off my author friends badly over it. They don't want to hear it when I say I have another story brewing in my head. You guys know who you are.
I never knew I liked cats until I got the coolest feline who ever walked the planet. I'm not lying and don't try to convince me your cat is better. You so won't win.
I like hard rock music, but I only play classical music on the piano. However, the classical music I play is pretty heavy stuff so I guess that makes sense.
I like anchovies, liverwurst and brussels sprouts. But not at the same time.
I just started another story yesterday. Did I tell you I have a lot of unfinished stories?

Anchovies, liverwurst and brussel sprouts... I started reading that and thought, "Worst pizza ever."
Thank God you added the final line.
Hi Valerie, I won't try and convince you - but honestly - you need to know - my cat is definitely cooler!
I love anchovies as well - but liverwurst and brussel sprouts - even on their own - Ugh!
what a fun post, a real inside look at who Valerie Mann is :) LOVE IT! And your love for cloudy days? You should so move to the UK, seriously. Sounds like that climate would suit you right down to the ground. But then, if you lived there, you'd probably end up saying how you hate cloudy days hehe On our last trip to the UK, which was over christmas, we were reminded at how miserable the weather can be there. Almost every single day was grey. Ugh. See, because I grew up there, I am now a lover of sunny days. Bring them on, I say. Yeah, I LOVE the NC climate. The weather here suits me, perfectly. Only a few months of winter, love it.
Fred Flintstones feet? I'm trying to imagine it, but I can't. And that's probably a good thing, feet are not my favorite thing to think about LOL
And as for unfinished stories, you better not be talking about your gypsy WIP, because I REALLy want to read that one. If you are talking gypsies, then you can add me to your list of authors who are saying, "grrrrr". LOL
I've got your 1 Night Stand book on my eReader, looking forward to reading it poolside this weekend :)
JoAnne ~ I dream of going to the UK for that very reason. Weird, I know. Yes I agree though, NC is the best of all worlds, weather-wise. Short winters, great spring, hot and steamy summers made bearable by the knowledge that autumn is coming and will be glorious.
And yes, my gypsy story is unfinished but the boys are speaking to me so it will get done this year.
Nina~ I won't fight you. I'll let you remain disillusioned by your cat's grandeur.
Maureen ~ I may have to make a Dagwood sandwich with those three ingredients just to see how they work together. LOL
How brave of you to share yourself with all of us.
Shy? Pft!! No damn way I'm beliieving that lady. LOL
Brussel Sprouts. Yummy Yummy. Especially with melted cheese over them.
Cool cat huh? Does yours fetch? Can he/she jump five feet in the air and catch a small ball? I challange your awesome cat. LOL
I love this post and I love how you opened up and gave us a glimpse into what makes you tick. I too have plenty of unfinished work but I look at it this way. Theya re just a stepping stone to the super great novel waiting to be released from my ever running brain. :)
I also fail to see you as shy. And I don't like the no sunshine, or liverworst or brussel sprouts. We are opposites in most ways, but they do attract each other, remember that.
Nice post, and you have all the cats, I'm allergic to cats. I have a huge respect for animals, they belong outside.
Great post and thanks for sharing yourself.
Love and blessings
Rita
My horse, aka, The Wonder Horse, challenges your cat to an extraordinary animal match at high noon. :)
Actually, I'm not a cat person, but I suspect, that somehow, someday, an amazing cat will come into my life and change my mind.
There's no changin' my mind about liverwurst and brussel sprouts, though. Ick! There's not enough cheese or deep frying ...
Heh. My word verification is "prats."
Great blog post!
Oh Val! Anchovies & brussel sprouts. Seriously? YUCKKKKKKKK
I think we need to have an intervention for you...SOON!
You ROCK, truly, you know a heart you. But the anchovies?! Bleh. Just not when we're together, ok?
Seriously, you are one of the coolest chicks, very glad to know you MORE.

Fred Flintstone has cute feet. So does his neighbor Barney. lol
I suppose we're the yuk twins. I like brussel sprouts and liverwurst, too. Haven't tried anchovies.
It was wonderful to get to know you, Valerie.
I love what you (or someone did) to Albert. : ) Smart is sexy--one reason why I married my sexy man.
Val - I know what you mean from 'shy, but no one knows'. It's not as bad with people WAY older or younger than me, but it's still there. Also, I finally figured out a way to overcome it, but it's *worse* than the shyness in some ways.
Also, I'm so there with you on the 'hating bullies'. I know it's not PC, but I got in one fight a year when I was in school. Every single one was when a bully took things a step too far. Yeah, between shy and short, I was something of a bully target in school.
Still, MNFSIU, eh? All's well that ends well. Great seeing what's behind the internet masks!
Note to self: I really need to do one of these.
You are so worth knowing my lovely friend. Finish some of those danged stories though - especially your demons. Stop spoon feeding it to me in two to three paragraph bites. I'm hungry.
I too am shy - people laugh at me too. Oral Interp and theatre taught me to go big or go home so I usually wind up over the top and doing something stupid. Good thing you rein me in now and then.
Robert ~ we all learn to compensate, don't we? I didn't get much chance to talk to you at RT but I senses a kindred shy spirit.
Becca ~ well, you should be shy since you have stalker friends who want to make soup out of you. It's your protective instincts, LOL
