10Q Tuesday with Deena Remiel

Where do you dream of traveling to and why?
I dream of traveling to Australia and New Zealand. I have friends there now, and would love to meet them and hang out. I often wonder if we would know what to say to each other once we were together. Computers has been the only way we’ve ever communicated.

Do you believe in ghosts?
I do, and I believe they’re all around us. I think if we open ourselves up enough we can sense them. Used to be absolutely terrified by the notion, but now, after watching Ghost Hunters and Ghost Adventures, I’m fine with it.

If you could spend the night anywhere, where would it be?
I would love to spend the night at a spa. Of course, then I’d need the staff there to provide every spa treatment imaginable. Can you tell I really need to unwind and get pampered?

What does your significant other and family think of your writing career?
My husband is so proud of me and all I’ve accomplished so far. He’s my biggest promoter! My daughters think it’s cool, but they’re on the younger side, preadolescent and teenager, and are a bit embarrassed by the subject matter. They have gotten used to looking at beautiful men, however!

Do you play games? What kind?
When I’m not tired, I love playing games. I enjoy trivia games, Bejeweled and Zuma, and board games.

What was one of the most surprising things you learned while writing your books?
I was most surprised by how quickly time flew by each day as I wrote this story. No sooner had the sun come up, then it was setting once more. I never realized how deeply engrossed one got when writing. I thought people were just exaggerating. Well, not anymore!

What are your favorite TV shows?
I adore Bones and Castle, and like Grey’s Anatomy. As far as reality TV, I love Hell’s Kitchen and So You Think You Can Dance.

What group did you hang out with in high school?
I identified with the NASA wannabe crowd, otherwise known as science geeks. I also identified with the drama crowd since I was student director for a few years. However, I really didn’t hang with any defined group. I had little pockets of friends.

What hobbies do you actively pursue?
I love photography and scrapbooking. Capturing moments, feelings, the essence of nature, all enthralls me.

Beatles or Monkees? Why?
This is a very tough question. I actually knew of the Monkees BEFORE the Beatles because I watched their TV show religiously. However, as the years went on, I developed a love for the Beatles and their music that still remains very strong to this day. George and Paul are my favorites.

I really do adore the idea of embarrasing my relatives... I so hope I eventually hear some complaints!

Hee, hee.

I believe in ghosts, too. I have a great ghost story of my own. Maybe I'll share it at RT.

Your're so right about how quick the day flies by when you're writing. It becomes a necessity to write.

Thanks for sharing some more details about yourself, Deena. It was a great interview!

OMG don't let me open the Bejeweled App on FB -- it steals me away from EVERYTHING! I had to block a lot of games, because I get side-tracked so easily. Pet Society was one that had me hooked. But I couldn't block Bejeweled, I love it too much :) It's my 'zone out' time during moments of plot bunny absence :)

Totally sympathize with the time thing. I lose myself BAD. Send the kids and hubby off for their day, sit down with my mocha, and suddenly they're back damn-it! Where does the time go?
Great post. You'll get to Australia someday, but I'd stay away right now with all the natural disasters going on!

It is nice to learn things about your fellow authors, you get to know them better this way.

I too watched the Monkeys and really enjoyed them. However, I never did learn to like the Beatles, back then it was more of you loved Elvis or your loved the Beatles. And Elvis won with me.

Love and blessings
Ria

Hey, yeah, I remember the Monkees TV show too. Haven't thought of it for years.
What if the question was Beatles, Monkees or Rolling Stones? Would that be easier?

Maureen- Youngest wants to be my body guard at book signings. LOL Eldest just wants to ignore I exist when I bring up the "writing thing".

Kathleen- In the wee small hours of RT, I really want to hear your ghost stories. :)

JoAnne- I play Bejeweled so much, I think I gave myself tendonitis in my fingers! LOL

JM- That's exactly why I go on retreats with friends. We book a hotel for the weekend and write, write, write! :)

Rita- My girlfriend's mom used to put Elvis on ALL THE TIME. We danced our patooties off. But my heart belongs to the Beatles.

Leanne- Definitely not a Rolling Stones fan, so my answer would be the same. :)
Leigh- Hugs to you , my dear friend! And Ic an't wait to be able to cross the world to meet ya! ;-)

Deena, we will get along so well at RT. lol

I am a huge Bejeweled/Zuma girl! And Bubble pop, but they ruined it. I was a Tetris freak, too. Anything with puzzles or blowing up stuff.

I still think we should scrapbook for a few hours at RT! Bring a kit and some adhesive, do some 8x8s or something. LOL!
